US-11N: Knoxville, TN to Salem, VA (284 miles)

Day 8 was another nice drive, but much of it was not as rural as in Alabama. The one excitement was the alternate route to avoid going on the interstate for a while. This went through the scariest road on the whole trip - Robinson Tract Road. There was one switchback in particular that was incredible - after rounding the turn it seemed to go straight up. The scary part was trying to downshift from 2nd gear to 1st when it couldn't be climbed in 2nd gear.
